How to Ask for Help Without Feeling Like a Burden

“I should be able to handle this.”

“I don’t want to bother anyone.”

“They’ve got their own stuff.”

“I’ll figure it out eventually.”

“I just need to push through.”

Pause.

Where did you learn that needing help makes you a problem? That asking for support means you’ve failed? That being overwhelmed is something to hide?

You’ve been carrying too much for too long. Quietly. Skillfully. Alone.

You are not a burden. You are not weak. You are not behind.

You are human. And humans need help.

Not because they’re broken. Not because they’re dramatic. But because they’re alive.

So ask. Ask clearly. Ask without apology. Ask like someone who deserves support—because you do.
